
Software Engineer – Delft
About this role:
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Delft team in the Netherlands. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced software developer with good insights in product development.
As we expand and improve our satellite sub-system capabilities, we are looking for creative, driven, and enthusiastic embedded software engineers to join our team to assist in developing, testing, and deploying our world-class satellite technology.
This opportunity is ideal for someone looking for responsibility and development opportunities of a technical nature in a dynamic, fast paced working environment with exciting projects and challenging schedules. You will be expected to work on projects of different sizes and complexities, ranging from actuator control systems to optical communication devices.
You will have proven experience from regulated industries with the desire to grow your knowledge and expertise, while adding value to our current ways of working. You will be happy to get involved and learn from the project! We also support activities across the AAC Clyde Space group so there is plenty of opportunities for cross-site collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the business by supporting Software Architect and System Engineers to scope work and specify requirements
- Deliver work tasks and assignments in accordance with required standards and compliance requirements
- Design, Develop, debug and Test Software for embedded computers on satellite sub-systems
- Develop and maintain tooling for automation of production and testing embedded products
- Develop and maintain technical design documentation including requirements capture, technical descriptions and user manuals
- Support other engineering teams as required
Skills required:
- Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent work experience
- Evident industry experience of applying software engineering to products and applications
- Must be a fluent C programmer with demonstrable experience in developing high-quality software for embedded systems and able to review code to a high standard
- Comprehensive understanding of the challenges of embedded real-time development and architecture
- Strong familiarity with the Linux command line and GNU toolchain (make, gcc etc.)
- Working with other developers using modern version control methodologies such as OneFlow
- Competent in Microsoft Office and other relevant IT skills
- Proficient in English, both verbally and written.
Skills desired:
- Experience of coaching and mentoring junior team members
- Knowledge of environmental testing and ESA standards
- Using Python and Bash for scripting and tooling
- Experience with control systems, deploying and troubleshooting algorithms on hardware
- Familiarity with CI/CD in complex embedded system
