Project Manager – Delft

About this role:

The role is to lead allocated projects throughout their lifecycle, delivering successfully against objectives in terms of cost, quality and timescales.  The type of projects allocated will be production and development.  This will involve working with the engineering team, production processes, inventory management and supply chain.

Critical project tasks include planning project delivery, identifying key milestone activities, active risk management, resource management and budget.  You will also be responsible for customer communication and assessing that technical specifications meet contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver project management services in line with Project Management best practices and associated processes to cost, quality and timescales as per agreed scope of work
  • Ownership of work packages for multiple production and development projects including planning, identifying and progressing critical paths as well as both risk and cost management
  • Maintain accurate project forecasts, and delivery to both project revenue and profit expectations
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, technical and procedural requirements
  • Negotiate specific project requirements with customers and manage necessary variations
  • Allocate resource via shared resource team in line with project priorities against schedule
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers as appropriate
  • Accountability for customer communication, stakeholders and relationships with wider team
  • Provide input on task estimates to Engineering and Sales/Business Development teams
  • Support activities associated with improving Projects such as workflow and other processes
  • Support the team to ensure they adhere to the company systems, contractual obligations and processes

 

Skills required:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in applicable technical environment.
  • Demonstrates experience and competence with project management
  • Demonstrates ability to work with development teams, production processes, inventory management and supply chain
  • Experience of understanding and applying contractual requirements
  • Thorough understanding of key project management competencies including cost, schedule control and risk management
  • Demonstrates experience of managing complex projects within short timescales and critical deadlines
  • Evidences building successful professional relationships with customers , demonstrating leadership, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Experience of leading and building a multi-disciplinary engineering team
  • Understanding of quality and other relevant standards
  • Basic understanding of business finance including revenue recognition and cash flow
  • Ability to work with and manage resources, stakeholder and customers to address expectations in line with priorities
  • Provide relevant KPIs, information flow and reporting to demonstrate project progress
  • Experience of managing suppliers and subcontractors
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft software
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Project or similar software

 

Skills desired:

  • Professional experience in regulated environment such as space or aerospace engineering
  • Relevant project qualification such as PMP or Prince 2
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle processes such as waterfall or agile
  • Experience in mentoring and developing others
  • Relevant space industry experience
  • Previous experience working with small/medium sized companies
