AOCS Engineer – Glasgow

About this role:

We are looking for an experienced, AOCS Engineer to join our busy Engineering team, generally based on site in our Glasgow office (Scotland, UK) to support a diverse range of activities to deliver on our projects and missions.

Key Responsibilities:

The purpose of the role is to provide mission analysis and design for attitude and orbital control sub-systems (AOCS) and algorithms for small satellite missions to cost, quality, safety, and time parameters.

· Deliver work tasks and assignments in accordance to required standards and compliance requirements

· Perform design, modelling, implementation, and testing of attitude and orbit control systems for nano and small satellites.

· Work with the Software Engineering team to transition algorithm designs to functional code, then validate implementation against models.

· Work with Systems Engineering to define technical requirements and to define mission analysis and AOCS scenarios for analysis.

· Perform on-orbit commissioning activities for newly launched spacecraft, including direct communication with the client’s team.

· Analyse test results from each spacecraft and perform hands-on testing on flight hardware

· Support business development activities by collaborating with potential clients to elicit technical requirements and assess feasibility for proposals.

 

Skills required:

· Relevant degree or equivalent work experience

· Experience with Matlab, Simulink, Microsoft Excel, Word & Powerpoint

· Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work independently as well as to effectively collaborate within cross cultural teams

· Demonstrates ownership of problems and works towards finding solutions

· Ability to make good decisions under highly demanding, dynamic environment

· Ability to organise self and prioritise workload of multiple projects in dynamic environment with tight deadlines

· Competent IT skills including Microsoft software

· Proficient in English, both verbally and written

 

 

Skills desired:

· Experience working on spacecraft AOCS

· Experience of debugging issues on AOCS hardware and/or software

· Experience with Python and Embedded C

· Previous experience working with small/medium sized companies

· Previous experience in space industry
