About this role

The primary purpose of the role is to lead a large strategic work programme with multiple subprojects and work packages including significant amounts of R&D time.  This is our flagship programme and will deliver next generation of our products and processes, both physical and digital for multiple satellite launches.

Programmes and their constituent projects must be delivered successfully to contractual obligations with customer, working with Operations and Engineering.  All activities must be in line with and meet technical requirements, cost, quality, safety and time parameters.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivery programme management services in line with Project Management Manual and associated processes.
  • Allocate resource via shared resource team in line with project priorities against schedule
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers as appropriate
  • Provide input on task estimates to Engineering and Sales/Business Development teams
  • Support activities associated with improving project and programme management
  • Support the team to ensure they adhere to the company systems and processes
  • Ensure consistent and continuous communication between all relevant stakeholders
  • Where applicable line manage individual project managers.

Skills Required:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in applicable technical environment.
  • Significant experience of delivering programmes of work or large projects with multiple work packages
  • Thorough understanding of key project management competencies including cost, schedule control and risk management
  • Demonstrates experience in dealing with external funders, governmental agencies and/or board level presentations
  • Experience of managing suppliers and subcontractors
  • Experience of understanding and applying contractual requirements
  • Basic understanding of business finance including revenue recognition and cash flow
  • Provide relevant KPIs, information flow and reporting to demonstrate project progress
  • Ability to work with and manage resources, stakeholder and customers to address expectations in line with priorities
  • Competent IT skills and with Microsoft software
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Project or similar software

Skills Desirable:

  • Relevant programme management qualification such as MSP or similar.
  • Chartered Engineer or similar significant technical background
  • Knowledge and experience in PowerBI
  • Passionate about continuous improvement
  • Experience in resource sharing across multiple projects
  • Knowledge of various project lifecycle processes such as waterfall, agile etc.

Location and flexibility

We are able to consider the following flexibility in this role:

  • Primary location will be Glasgow with expectation that Project Manager will have a visible presence within the office at least 60% of each week. Remote working for remainder can be considered.
  • Part-time of flexible working to minimum equivalent of 30 hours per week.
