Production Supervisor – Glasgow

About this role:

We are looking for a Production Supervisor to lead our Production team to plan, organise and deliver our subsystems and satellites. The role is based in Glasgow and the successful candidate will be site-based given the nature of the work. This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to be hands-on in leading the team to produce small satellite components and/or sub-systems to cost, quality, safety, and time parameters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead team of assembly and test technicians
  • Provide technical guidance when required on assembly and test processes for electronics satellite sub-systems
  • Drive the team to ensure a high level of performance, quality and delivery
  • Provide support to Head of Production on Loading, Capacity, Blockers, Resourcing and Quality issues
  • Focus on continuous improvement projects to improve efficiency and standard of design and associated processes
  • Deliver work tasks and assignments in accordance to required standards, quality, budget and timescales
  • Engage in design process to ensure Design for Manufacture and Design for Test focus
  • Drive the teams to ensure a high level of performance, quality and delivery
  • Develop and maintain relationships within the production department and key engineering points of contact

Skills required:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent work experience
  • Previous experience working in a technical and/or electronics production environment
  • Previous team leadership experience
  • Knowledge of quality standards
  • Evidences improving processes and procedures, demonstrating a lean mindset
  • Ability to coach and develop others
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively collaborate within a multicultural team
  • Demonstrates ownership of problems and works towards finding solutions
  • Ability to make good decisions under highly demanding, dynamic environment
  • Ability to organise self and prioritise workload with multiple projects in dynamic environment with tight deadlines
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft software
  • Proficient in English, both verbally and written

 

Skills desired:

  • Lean qualification
  • Experience of environmental testing of electronics products
  • Relevant space industry experience
  • Previous experience in working with small/medium sized company
