Earth Observation Analyst – London

About this role:

We are looking for a detail-oriented, geospatial analyst to join a new role in our growing, dynamic team.  This is a  hybrid working role based in London to support earth observation activities in our Data and Services division.

This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to grow their geospatial skills by analysing geographical data while working collaboratively with other colleagues and communicating GIS concepts to non-GIS users.  The role will also focus on product development, with a specific emphasis on collaboration with developers to embed maps and geospatial content in our Space Data as a Service platform.

Key Responsibilities:

Spatial Data Management:

  • Curate, maintain, and optimize geospatial datasets within ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility for end-users
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate spatial data into our SDaaS platform

 

Map Design and Visualization:

  • Create visually compelling maps using ArcGIS Pro
  • Design thematic maps, heatmaps, and interactive web maps for our SDaaS applications
  • Customize map symbology and labelling to enhance user experience

 

Geospatial Analysis:

  • Perform spatial analyses to extract meaningful insights, using ArcGIS Pro & ArcGIS Online
  • Utilize geoprocessing tools, spatial queries, and spatial analysis within ArcGIS Pro

 

ArcGIS Online Administration:

  • Configure web maps, apps, and dashboards
  • Collaborate with developers to embed maps and geospatial content in our SDaaS platform

 

Customer Support and Training:

  • Assist clients in utilizing our SDaaS tools effectively
  • Provide technical support related to geospatial queries and troubleshooting
  • Conduct training sessions for internal teams and external users

 

Skills required:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent work experience
  • Previous industry experience in GIS, Earth Observation, or related roles.
  • Demonstrates experience in a customer-facing experience in a business context
  • Critical thinker with ability to analyse data.
  • Detail-oriented, focused, and meticulous
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently as well as to effectively collaborate within cross cultural teams
  • Ability to make good decisions under highly demanding, dynamic environment
  • Ability to organise self and prioritise workload with multiple projects in dynamic environment with tight deadlines
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft software
  • Proficient in English, both verbally and written

 

Skills desired:

SDaaS Skills:

  • Utilize SDaaS platforms for geospatial data storage, processing, and visualization.

Database and Programming Skills:

  • Proven proficiency with SQL, or Python for geospatial data manipulation and analysis.
  • Proven intermediate level knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise for geospatial workflows.

Other

  • Previous experience working with small/medium sized companies
