About this role

The purpose of the role is to build and maintain data repositories and processing workflows to collect, manage and analyse data from our satellites and other sources into usable information for business customers.

This role is an essential part of our vision for AAC Clyde Space’s development of ‘Space Data as a Service’@

Responsibilities will include:

  • Build and maintain data systems and fully automated workflows to meet internal and external customer specifications
  • Create and curate databases of satellite and other data to enable rapid and efficient utilisation by authorised users
  • Establish, maintain and report KPIs on data processing volumes, quality and timeliness
  • Maintain and document code using version control in a suitable repository, aligned to company processes
  • Collaborate with customers and other stakeholders to interface data workflows with other systems
  • Work with Data Scientists to develop analytics that extract information using data combined from multiple sources
  • Support business development activities by gathering customer requirements and contributing to technical proposals.

Skills Required:

  • Relevant Degree qualification or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of Python
  • Evidence of creating data workflows, implementing and testing algorithm combinations and conducting statistical analysis
  • Experience with relevant software and programming languages
  • Hands on experience with database design and implementation
  • Strong knowledge and experience of database management, in particular PostgreSQL
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Thorough understanding of data parsing and manipulation techniques
  • Knowledge of Linux server
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and use of code repositories with version control
  • Ability to organise self and prioritise workload
  • Can work independently as well as ability to effectively collaborate within cross cultural teams

Skills Desirable:

  • Knowledge of GIS data formats and/or PostGIS
  • Experience of cloud server setup and maintenance, especially AWS
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Bitbucket
  • Understanding and experience of REST APIs, gRPC and/or GraphQL
  • Data Engineering, Database Management or Data Science certification
