AIT Engineer – Glasgow

About this role:

We are looking for an AIT Engineer to join our busy Production team, based in Glasgow to support our production capabilities.

This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to provide technical expertise and production support for manufacturing products platforms for small satellite missions to cost, quality, safety and timescales.

You will enjoy working in a technical role in a dynamic working environment. You will have proven experience from regulated industries with the desire to grow your knowledge and expertise while adding value to our current ways of working. You will not be afraid of challenges and happy to get involved! The role is site based as it requires assembling, integration and testing of our subsystems and satellites.

Key Responsibilities:

· Deliver work tasks and assignments in accordance to required standards, quality, budget and timescales

· Lead activities with spacecraft assembly, integration, and test phase to expected standards and timescales

· Prepare and participate with spacecraft environmental tests including mechanical, thermal and EMC

· Review tests results, raising non conformance reports as appropriate

· Produce AIT Plans and reports including test reports for project team and to capture any lessons learnt

· Drive continues improvement activities and efficiencies relating to AIT procedures and standards

· Review designs to consider implications for AIT phase

· Ensure cleanroom is maintained to ensure safe working practices

· Manage relationships with key stakeholders and their expectations to ensure their continued support

 

Skills required:

· Relevant degree or equivalent work experience

· High level of practical `hands-on’ application of engineering within industry; including using lab test equipment to debug electronic circuits

· An understanding of the types of standard tests required during a spacecraft AIT campaign.

· Experience in investigating system level problems and resolving defects

· Experience in the build and test of spacecraft (candidates with broader experience in the space industry will also be considered)

· Strong communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills

· Ability to organise self and prioritise workload with multiple projects in dynamic environment with tight deadlines

· Competent IT skills including Microsoft software

· Proficient in English, both verbally and written

 

Skills desired:

· Experience in the build and test of spacecraft, ideally cubesats

· Experience with using schematic capture and PCB layout design software

· Experience in a high level programming language, preferably Python

· A knowledge or awareness of ESA ECSS standards (or equivalent international standards) relating to verification and testing

· Previous experience in working with small/medium sized businesses
